Lab-Grown Diamonds
Lab-grown diamonds are real diamonds, created in controlled laboratory environments using advanced technology that replicates the natural process of diamond formation. They have the same chemical composition (pure carbon), crystal structure and physical properties as mined diamonds - the same hardness (10 on the Mohs scale), the same brilliance, the same fire, and the same permanence.
The only difference is their origin. Lab-grown diamonds are formed in a matter of weeks rather than over billions of years, and offer complete transparency throughout the supply chain.
Absolutely! Lab-grown diamonds are chemically, physically and optically identical to mined diamonds. They are not simulants like cubic zirconia or moissanite - they are genuine diamonds, recognised as such by the Federal Trade Commission and leading gemmological institutes worldwide.
A simple test: take a lab-grown and mined diamond of identical specifications to any jeweller. Without certification paperwork, they are indistinguishable - even to experts with professional equipment.
Yes, identical sparkle. Brilliance and fire depend on the quality of the cut, not the diamond’s origin. A well-cut lab-grown diamond will outshine a poorly cut mined diamond every time.
All IVYMOOR diamonds are graded Excellent or above, delivering exceptional light performance regardless of size or shape. Your IGI or GIA certificate confirms the precise cut grade.
Yes. Lab-grown diamonds are the hardest natural substance on Earth (10 on Mohs scale), exactly like mined diamonds. They will not cloud, fade, scratch or change over time. Your great-grandchildren will inherit the same brilliance you see today.
The "diamond is forever" promise applies equally to lab-grown stones - because they are diamonds.
Supply chain efficiency, not a compromise on quality. Lab-grown diamonds eliminate:
- Mining operations and associated costs
- Multi-layered intermediary mark-ups
- Geographic scarcity pricing
- Conflict zone premiums
The result: 40-60% lower prices for identical quality. This means you can choose a larger diamond, higher clarity, or better colour without increasing your budget. Smart luxury.
Lab-grown diamonds offer radical supply chain transparency – you know exactly where your diamond came from and how it was created. No mining, no conflict zones, no worker exploitation concerns.
However, “ethical” also depends on energy sources and labour practices. At IVYMOOR, we partner with certified suppliers who use renewable energy and maintain fair labour standards. Every diamond comes with complete traceability documentation.
Like all diamonds, lab-grown stones are not investment assets, they are sentimental purchases. Mined diamonds typically retain 20-40% of retail value in the resale market; lab-grown diamonds currently retain 10-30%. However, you are paying 40-60% less initially.
The real question: would you rather pay £10,000 for a mined diamond that resells for £3,000, or £5,000 for an identical lab-grown diamond that resells for £1,500? Either way, you are wearing the diamond, not liquidating it.
If resale value is the primary concern, diamonds (mined or lab-grown) are not ideal. If wearing a stunning symbol of your commitment matters most, lab-grown offers exceptional value.

We offer 9k, 14k and 18k gold in yellow, white or rose, as well as platinum. All metals are UK hallmarked to certify their purity, so you can be confident in their quality. 9k gold is the most affordable and durable for everyday wear, 14k offers a balance of colour richness and strength, while 18k provides a deeper, more luxurious colour and is hypoallergenic. Platinum is the most durable and naturally white, requiring no plating, and gives a premium, substantial feel. You can choose your metal based on colour preference, longevity, and budget, knowing each option is crafted to last generations.
If you’re unsure of your ring size, you can use our online size guide or request a ring sizer to measure accurately at home. If you need to estimate, choose your best guess and take advantage of our complimentary resizing service to ensure the perfect fit. For more tips and guidance, see our Sizing & Resizing page.
Yes, complimentary engraving is included with every ring, allowing up to 20 characters (letters, numbers or symbols). The engraving is placed discreetly on the inside of the band for a personal, hidden touch.
QUALITY & CERTIFICATION
Yes, every IVYMOOR diamond over 0.50ct includes independent certification.
IGI and GIA are both independent, internationally recognised diamond grading laboratories. They assess a diamond’s quality based on the 4Cs: cut, colour, clarity and carat weight.
Gemological Institute of America (GIA) is often regarded as the traditional benchmark. It has a long history and is commonly associated with natural diamonds. It is known for strict grading, particularly in borderline cases.
International Gemological Institute (IGI) is the world’s largest independent laboratory network. It is the leading authority for lab-grown diamonds and is widely used across the industry. Most lab-grown diamonds are certified by IGI.
Both laboratories provide accurate and reliable grading. Both are trusted worldwide.
Neither is inherently better. Both IGI and GIA offer dependable, independent certification. For lab-grown diamonds, IGI is the industry standard and fully reliable. If a diamond is certified by GIA, that is equally reputable.
What matters most is that your diamond is certified by a recognised third-party laboratory. Both IGI and GIA meet this standard completely.
Yes. All IVYMOOR rings are hallmarked in the United Kingdom in accordance with the UK Hallmarking Act 1973. A hallmark confirms that the precious metal has been independently tested and meets official UK standards of purity. It is your assurance that the metal content is exactly as described. Hallmarking is included in the price of your ring. There are no additional charges.
It means your diamond was created in a laboratory rather than mined, but it is still a real diamond with the same physical, chemical and optical properties. The term is included for transparency and does not indicate lower quality or appearance.
Caring for your ring is simple and helps maintain its brilliance for years to come. We recommend cleaning it weekly using warm water, a small amount of mild washing-up liquid, and a soft toothbrush to gently remove any build-up, especially behind the diamond and around the setting. Rinse thoroughly and dry with a lint-free cloth to restore its sparkle.
To keep your ring in excellent condition, avoid exposure to harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners and extreme temperature changes, and remove it during activities such as exercising, swimming, cleaning or heavy manual work, as these can damage the metal or loosen the setting over time. Occasional professional checks are also recommended to ensure the setting remains secure and the ring stays in optimal condition.
